Riad Jardin Secret - Marrakech
Soundtrack: Suzanne by Leonard Cohen
If you don’t follow @riadjardinsecret on Instagram you probably should now and then book a flight to Marrakech immediately…or suffer through a severe case of Wanderlust. They post their photos with what’s currently playing in their garden oasis tucked away within the medina walls so I followed suit for this post.
I stayed at Riad Jardin Secret as highly recommended (you can see why below) by Kelley, editor-in-chief of the London based magazine Majestic Disorder; she also happened to be staying at Riad Jardin Secret at the same time so I was able to meet her and co-founder Sean. **more adventures with them coming soon** Thank you to them and the owners of Riad Jardin Secret, Cyrielle and Julien, for a wonderful dinner enjoyed on their Pink Rooftop. I’ll let the rest of the photos do the talking but here are some lyrics from Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne” that I heard for the first time during my stay there.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she’s touched your perfect body with her mind
- Leonard Cohen
Note: Not pictured is the full size hammam shower in my bedroom. I felt like a queen every time I took a shower and was exactly what I needed after my few days in the Sahara Desert!
More adventures with Majestic Disorder in Essaouira next!
